External orthopedic fixing apparatus comprises a pair of hexagonal collars (1, 2) connected parallel to each other by means of a pair of adjustable spacers (3) each extending normal to the planes of the collars and connected to opposite sides of each collar; each collar being further provided (in the sides thereof not connected to the adjustable spacing members) with apertures (4) extending transversely of the collar for mounting fixing rods (8) extending between opposite faces of the collar. In one embodiment (as illustrated) the adjustable spacing members take the form of a male member (9) slideable in a longitudinal aperture in a female member (8) each demountably connected, via screw thread rods (6) and nuts (7), to the collars. This invention relates to medicine, in particular to traumatology and orthopedics.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the rigidity of fixation of bone fragments.
Fig, 1 shows the apparatus in the first embodiment, a general view; FIG. 2 is the same in the second embodiment.
The apparatus in the first embodiment contains two supports i and 2 with knitting needles, holders and spokes 3 and two straps with nuts 4 with notches connecting the supports 1 and 2. Each tie is made in the form of body 5 with base 6, scale 7 and a longitudinal slit 8 in which a slider 9 with a protrusion 10 is installed, having a connection with the body 5 of the dovetail type. On the base 6, a screw 11 is installed, having a threaded connection with a protrusion 10, while the slider 9 and the base 6 are provided with threaded shanks 12 for installation in the supports 1 and 2 with the help of nuts 4.
The supports 1 and 2 are hexagonal, in the edges of which there are four slots 13 under the spokes 3, 5 cm long and 0.3 cm high, arranged in pairs in opposite faces adjacent to the edges in which the straps are installed, with a distance between pairs in height 3.5 cm. In the corners of the supports 1 and 2, holes 14 are made in pairs with the possibility of disposing the ends of the spokes 3 on different supports 1 and 2. The screw 11 is equipped with a adjusting nut 15. The clip holders are made in the form of plugs 16 with internal thread.

The apparatus according to the second embodiment contains two supports 17 and 18 with knitting needles and spokes 19 and a nut with nuts 20, having notches connecting the supports 17 and 18, the latter are made six-sided with three holes 21 under the spokes 19 on the lateral supports of each face with a wall between holes 21 of 1 mm. In the corners of each support 17 and 18, two holes 22 are made under the spokes 19. Each tie is made in the form of a housing 17 fixed to the edges of the support 17 with a threaded shank 24 mounted on the edges of the support 18. The spokes 19 are made with threaded shanks 25. The apparatus in the first embodiment is used as follows.
The needles 3 are first passed through the bone fragments, and then the rest of the apparatus is installed. Rotation of the adjusting nuts 15 provides compression or distraction of the bone fragments, using the scale 7 to report the magnitude of the movement.
